TL;DR:
- this is my disclaimer after i completed my investment in beehiiv.
- this will not change my opinion about beehiiv because i'm an investor.
- the trust people put in my recommendations is the most important thing, and i will not put this "small" investment over my opinions.
what happened
i have completed an investment in beehiiv via their community series b.
since i review and cover beehiiv a lot on my blog and YouTube channel, i want to make this information public.
why i invested
i showed interest and invested because i believe that the company will do well.
for more than 1 year, beehiiv was already my highest-rated platform, and that's why i took this opportunity.
in total, my investment was small for 2 reasons: one, the demand for this community round was so high they beehiiv reduced my reserve amount; and second, i only invested what i was comfortable "to lose".
that second part was essential because if everything go to zero, i would not even notice the absence of this money. so this reduces stress by a lot.
on the other side, if it pays off, i could make some nice money (even though it won't be life-changing).
even if i 20x my initial investment, that should not be enough to buy a new car (think about an average car).
for context, the total investment is less than my monthly rent and represents less than 5% of my investments at the time of the investment.
this should give you an idea that from the 1 million beehiiv raised, my part was a drop in the ocean.
what happened
this investment will not change my opinion of beehiiv. nor will it change me suggesting other platforms over them for some things when i believe other platforms are better.
i still prefer Ghost CMS for my blog at the time of writing, for example.
however, i am a fan of beehiiv and how they are developing to become one of the best newsletter tools for creators.
i am just taking an opportunity that was available.
it's like i would also have invested in [insert great company here] in the past if i had the chance and felt they would turn out great.
beehiiv is a great tool, and i really believe they will keep getting better.
they are basically relentless by pushing out new updates almost every week.
now, you might be asking: doesn't this cause a conflict of interest?
in short: yes and no.
yes, because on one side, when i am recommending beehiiv from this point forward, i may benefit from it as an affiliate and investor. that's a fact.
on the other side: no, because i will not recommend beehiiv more than what i do now because i will profit from it.
i know this is just my word, but i will let my actions speak for myself and prove that i deserve the trust if/when people trust my opinion.
and trust is essential.
i don't intend on breaking the trust people have in me and my opinions as a creator in this space.
i will do my best to keep giving the best advice i can without pushing out bad stuff just to make a quick buck.
